SUMMARY:Torfaen Dolphins Performance Swim Centre
DESCRIPTION:Torfaen Dolphins was formed relatively recently in 2012. It was the amalgamation of two local clubs\, Torfaen Swim Squad and Pontypool Dolphins. \nSwimming in Torfaen has always been a strength. The two clubs were originally one until a split in 1977\, it was then that Torfaen Swim Squad came into being. \nThey carried on for many years as two highly successful clubs\, both producing many swimmers who represented Wales at various Commonwealth Games. Eventually\, it was decided in 2011 that they would be stronger together and so it has proved. \nWe are the only performance club in the Torfaen Borough and we work in very close partnership with Torfaen Leisure Trust\, who are a great support. \nThe vast majority of our coaching staff are former international swimmers who are able to share their vast wealth of knowledge with the youngsters they coach today. \nNote: click here for our full committee information. \nWe regularly take swimmers away for competitions or training camps\, this is the Performance Squad in Majorca. \nTorfaen Dolphins is one of only 11 performance clubs in Wales and the only one in the Torfaen area. Our Swimming Club caters for a huge range of ages and abilities within our programmes\, so if you are a Club Swimmer who wants to reach their full potential\, or become a future Commonwealth Games representative\, we are able to help every swimmer to achieve their goals. \nOur family friendly club provides its members with the opportunity to swim – from Wave 7 learning with our partners Torfaen Leisure Trust\, up to national\, international and masters level. Taster sessions are available\, please see our Like to Join page. \nSwimmers begin in the Foundation Squad\, where basic skills are developed. Progressing to the Development Squad programme to enhance techniques and competition skills. We then have 2 Performance Squads which have produced age group swimmers at the very highest levels of elite swimming. To complement our main stream squads\, we have The Masters Squad and Torfaen Tri Club. Both are producing results at the very highest level. \nTD is an inclusive club and as well as able bodied swimmers\, also caters for swimmers with disabilities or impairments in the TD Paraswim squad. These swimmers have individual disabilities and receive tuition and guidance in training sessions\, specifically tailored to their needs. Swimmers who are able to\, can and do swim in the ‘mainstream’ squads. \nThe club currently has a number of paraswimmers  in the mainstream squads and this has had a big impact both on those swimmers\, but also their able-bodied peers who they swim with. This ensures that disability and impairment is ‘normalised’ for club members. All swimmers share in the success of both able-bodied and para-swimmers\, with a supportive atmosphere across swimmers\, coaches\, volunteers and parents. \nThe club is also very proud to have recently been recognised as an organisation that is ‘Autism Aware.’ Participants can feel assured that Torfaen Dolphins understands the needs of individuals on the Autistic spectrum and will strive to provide a safe and welcoming environment. \nPLEASE CONTACT TORFAEN DOLPHINS FOR MORE INFORMATION\, AND CORRECT CLASS TIMES. SUMMARY:Mountain Ash Fly Fishing Association
DESCRIPTION:Penderyn\n\n\n\n\nOver the past few years M.A.F.F.A. has undertaken a range of improvements at Penderyn aimed at installing new and updating existing facilities for the benefit of members and visitors alike\, enabling us also to accommodate schools\, groups and organisations\, such as our local Scouts\, who wish to try fly-fishing for themselves. Please see the Photo’s below \nThe Association is extremely indebted to the support and commitment of Natural Resources Wales\, Tower Fund and several other funding bodies\, notably Meadow Prospects\, Interlink\, The Welsh Church Act Fund and the National Lottery’s. \nAwards for All Wales Fund\, all of which have supported our endeavours to improve facilities for the benefit of angling at Penderyn Reservoir. \nWorking in partnership with Natural Resources Wales\, we have undertaken improvements to our car park and pathways\, making them disabled friendly\, we have installed disabled casting platforms\, as well as stairways enabling access along our stone reservoir banks and we have constructed a boat-mooring pontoon which provides easy access to our boats. All of these following on from the erection of our anglers’ cabin which was sourced through our own funds and erected by club volunteers. \nWe have recently installed a mini wind-turbine\, solar panels and lighting courtesy of a grant from Awards for All Wales and we have now acquired a wheely-boat to enable anglers with a range of disabilities\, particularly wheelchair anglers to experience boat fishing. \nThe Association holds its meetings at the Hirwaun Rugby Club\, 32\, High Street\, Hirwaun CF44 9SL.  \nMembers meet at the Hirwaun Rugby Club on most Thursdays from 7:30 pm throughout the year with fly-tying classes over the winter months. All welcome. \nThe club also holds both boat and bank competitions on venues such as\, Elan Valley\,  Penderyn Reservoir\,  Farmoor\,  Chew Valley\,  Blagdon and Llyn Clywedog.
